Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) is the ideal course for those new to project management. It is a great way to start your project management career, allowing you to gain an understanding of the principles of project management. It provides a detailed overview of the fundamental concepts, including project planning, quality and risk management, stakeholder and communication plans and an understanding of project lifecycles.
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (SCQF Level 6) is a multiple-choice examination.

Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is designed for project managers with experience who are looking to develop their expertise. This is intended to help you achieve knowledge and understanding of all areas of project management and where you will master the skills to lead and manage complex projects, effectively lead diverse project teams, and ensure that projects are aligned to strategic organisational objectives.

What is the difference between APM PFQ and APM PMQ?
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) is an entry-level qualification which covers the basic fundamental concepts of project management. The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is the advanced qualification which is devised for those professionals who have 2-3 years’ experience as a project professional. This covers the comprehensive project management practices and methodologies.
What are the Prerequisites for APM courses?
APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
The APM PFQ has no prerequisites and is suitable for beginners. However, the APM PMQ and other advanced courses may recommend some prior experience or knowledge of project management principles. You will most be likely:

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
The APM PMQ has no specific requirements for experience or other qualifications that you must have before studying. It is recommended that you have 2-3 years’ experience working as a project professional. You will most be likely:
- Working in a project environment
- Have 2-3 years’ experience as a project professional
- Looking to enhance your career potential to a senior project management role
- Be interested in learning about all areas of project management
- If you don’t have any of the experience referred to above, you would be advised to consider taking the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) prior to studying for the APM Project Management (PMQ)
Delivery Method
APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
Delivery method – Virtual Live Online Classroom with exam.
Our 3 Day Virtual Live Online Classroom course offers the flexibility and convenience to study from the comfort of your own home. These sessions are live, interactive, with a range of activities, discussions and real-life examples. An immersive, interactive learning experience with an experienced tutor where you will learn the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) criteria prior to taking your exam. The course aligns to the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ). Exam vouchers are provided to redeem at a time to suit within 12 months of purchase. Exam is taken online using the remote invigilator process.
APM recommends a minimum of 34 hours preparation for the PFQ exam. The e-learning course 21 hours of self-paced online learning which must be completed prior to attending the 3-day virtual classroom course.
APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
Delivery method – Virtual Live Online Classroom with exam.
Our 5 Day Virtual Live Online Classroom course offers the flexibility and convenience to study from the comfort of your own home. These sessions are live, interactive, with a range of activities, discussions and real-life examples. An immersive, interactive learning experience with an experienced tutor where you will learn the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) criteria prior to taking your exam. The course aligns to the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ). Exam vouchers are provided to redeem at a time to suit within 12 months of purchase. Exam is taken online using the remote invigilator process.
APM recommends a minimum of 40 hours preparation e-learning and 5 days classroom learning prior to taking the PMQ exam. The e-learning course 40 hours of self-paced online learning which must be completed prior to attending the 5-day virtual classroom course.
